A Week in the Life

What’s a normal week like at KidShip? The first day is like the first day at school; nobody knows anybody and there is a mix of excitement and trepidation. Kids get out on the docks and friendships start to form. They pair up once they get on the water, groups start to form and they want to sail together.

“Kids are like sponges,” says past Kidship Director Jed Kling. “They soak everything up and learn very quickly. They also keep you on your toes.”

For the first couple of days, there is one instructor for every three to four children, and each boat has an instructor on board to ensure a safe, fun, and secure experience. This also allows each instructor to identify and address each child’s fears and apprehensions...


Each course is built upon the principles of sailing, but varies in the amount of time spent practicing the skills developed in the classroom and aboard the fleet of monohull dinghies.
